Balloon Wedding Décor Ideas: 10 Fun Ways to Incorporate Balloons Into Your Big Day
by Karly Anderson

Take a moment to think back to some of your most memorable events growing up – birthday parties, school events, prom. What did all of these most likely have in common when it came to décor? Balloons, of course!

We associate balloons with happy, fun and whimsical events, so why isn’t it obvious that this classic décor item can easily be incorporated into your wedding day? Whether you’re looking to up the fun factor or keep your event chic and classy, balloons can be used in a variety of ways on your wedding day.

Some quick tips:

  • If you’re considering incorporating balloons into your wedding day décor, you easily can find and purchase them at any major or local party store. Balloon Maniacs, an online retailer, also has a vast selection of any type of balloon you could imagine at affordable prices.
  • If you purchase your balloons in-store, be sure to discuss with them any policies that they have regarding large orders, such as how far in advance you need to order, when they can be finished, and so on. If you purchase your balloons online, you probably will need to look into renting a helium machine or seeking out a local store that will inflate the balloons for you.
  • Depending on the type of the balloon, don’t have them inflated until 24 to 48 hours prior to your wedding – you don’t want to risk any of them deflating or getting punctured and popping. For that reason alone, it would be wise to order some extra in case of an incident.

Got it? Great! Now read on for more super-fun balloon wedding décor ideas!

1. Ceremony Décor

Although some may not associate balloons with exchanging wedding vows, you can add this simple touch of whimsy and fun while still keeping it classy and appropriate. Stick to one color – either a color from your wedding palette, or you can’t go wrong with all white or ivory balloons. Just imagine walking down an aisle lined with giant balloons or looking out at your guests to see balloons tied to each and every chair – pretty memorable, right?

2. Give One to Your Flower Girl and/or Ring Bearer

Let’s face it – it wouldn’t get much cuter than your flower girl and/or ring bearer carrying a single balloon down the aisle. You even could write “Here Comes the Bride” on it for an extra special touch. The balloon also is bound to keep the little one(s) occupied and happy throughout the ceremony and remainder of the day.

Show off your wedding color palette with coordinating and contrasting colored balloons for your bridal party to hold, or stick to one color for a sophisticated and trendy monochromatic look. Consider special balloons specifically for the bride and groom – maybe ones that say Mr. and Mrs. or balloons that coordinate with traditional wedding décor, such as bells.
